If you intend to do this, you must contact us in advance, as we do not have a shop and are therefore not always on site.
Is there a free return label?
No. In the interests of our regular customers, we have decided against free returns. We try to keep our prices very attractive. We would have to include free return shipping in the calculation, which would increase the prices for all customers.
Why did I receive a ReUsed box?
- because we proudly and courageously decided to take this step, even though we were advised against it
- because we think it is important to utilise existing resources as well as possible
- because we ourselves receive a lot of cardboard boxes that are too good to be thrown away
- because your items were just as well protected in this box as in a new one

Handle
What is the purpose and correct adjustment of the ankle strap?
I have difficulty closing the toe straps, what can I do?
The front gap on my Scootboots is so wide that I can't close the front straps, what can I do?
Extra-long front belts have also been available since spring 2022. These are 10 mm longer. The extra-long front straps are available to buy here.
What is the purpose of the mud straps?
The mud straps offer more support when riding in extreme conditions.
However, they can also be used if the Scoot Boots do not fit perfectly because your horse needs insoles, for example, and therefore a larger boot. We have also used them successfully when a horse keeps kicking its shoe with its hind hooves.
My mud straps are too tight, can I lengthen them?
Yes, mud straps can be extended up to 10mm using a heat gun. (a normal hair dryer is not warm enough). To do this, heat the entire mud strap in swivelling movements until the material is slightly shiny. Then carefully pull apart and hold until the material has cooled down. Altered mud straps cannot be returned!
How do I recognise the right size of mud straps?
The mud straps must not be so loose that you can push them to the edge of the scooter with your fingers. In our Video we show you the difference between a mud strap that fits and one that is too big.
Can I fit studs to the Scoot Boots?
Yes, you can. We recommend at least 4 studs per shoe. However, 6 or 8 studs per shoe are often used.
In any case, it is important to fit cleats only in new shoes. You can buy the cleats and adapters separately from us or all together as a set. Attention- Scootboots with mounted cleats are excluded from exchange!
The screws on my Scoot Boots are coming loose, why and what can I do?
During use, the hoof boots are exposed to a lot of vibrations, which can cause the screws to loosen. Loctite, a thread locking adhesive, is applied to all screws during production to prevent this. If the screws come loose, apply Loctite 222 before replacing the screws. This is a low-strength adhesive that is strong enough to hold the screws in place, but loose enough to allow the screws to be loosened again. Loctite can be purchased at most hardware stores.
Can Scoot Boots be widened?
Yes, you can widen Scootboos. You will need a heat gun (a hair dryer is not hot enough) and 2 gloves. Here you can find our Video instructions for widening the scootboats. Worn shoes are of course excluded from exchange and return.
How can I easily change the front straps?
This is very simple. You take the shoe and pull the toe straps against the closing direction until the strap slips over the screw. As the screws are glued, they are very difficult or impossible to unscrew. You can find help in our video instructions "Scoot Boots" Front Straps change“.

General
Important
For new shoes, please tighten the screws before use.
Avoid contact of chemical substances (insect spray, copper sulphates, hoof oils, etc.) with your Scoot Boots, as these can react with the material (TPU, thermoplastic urethane) and damage the hoof boots.
What do Scoot boots cost?
You can buy 1 pair of Scoot Boots from €150.
How heavy are Scoot Boots?
Do Scoot Boots have a good profile?
Yes, the tread pattern of the Scoot Boots has excellent traction. With the exception of ice (only recommended here with studs), it is suitable for all surfaces.
How long do Scoot Boots last?
If your horse has a fluid movement, the shoes will last for several years with occasional riding. However, the durability of the hoof boots is also influenced by your horse's gait and the surface. If your horse drags its feet, twists them or you mainly ride on sharp surfaces such as tarmac, the hoof boots will naturally wear out more quickly. If you ride endurance, you can expect to ride up to 1,000 kilometres with a pair of Scoot Boots. The shell and straps are made of thermoplastic urethane (TPU), which has excellent abrasion and shock absorption properties and they have no components that can break off.
Our personal experience is that Scoot Boots have very little abrasion compared to other hoof boots.
Does water collect in the scoot boat?
No, Scoot boots have excellent drainage. The side ventilation openings, the open rear area and the open toe area prevent water retention.
Do stones collect in the scoot boots?
No, with a suitable scoot boot no stones can collect in the shoe. With other hoof boots, stones often fly into the top of the pastern and then have no way of escaping. This cannot happen with Scoot Boots.
For which floor / surface are Scoot Boots suitable?
Scoot Boots are ideal for surfaces such as sand, mud, water, stones, tarmac, gravel, forest floor, meadow paths and snow. On icy surfaces, we only recommend Scoot Boots with studs.
Can a horse's hooves overheat due to hoof boots when it is hot?
Yes, they can. That's why the Scoot Boot has been expertly designed for excellent ventilation and breathability to prevent this from happening.
Can Scoot Boots be used as rehab shoes?
Scoot Boots are excellent for sensitive soles and can stay on the hoof longer than most other hoof boots due to their excellent breathability and good drainage. Good breathability is important to prevent the build-up of fungus and bacteria that can occur when hooves remain moist for extended periods. For 24/7 use we recommend the Endurance Gaiter to use.
My horse has laminitis, can Scoot Boots help him?
Yes, Scoot Boots are suitable for horses with laminitis due to their bevelled sole profile at the front to relieve the toes. Various insoles/pads can also be used
How long can Scoot Boots stay on the hoof?
Scoot Boots can remain on the hoof for as long as required. Thanks to the excellent drainage of the Scoot Boots, the hooves remain dry in the shoes and the natural hoof warmth dries out excess moisture. Of course, regular checks at least once a day are necessary to rule out chafing or similar problems. For prolonged continuous use as a sick shoe, we recommend using the Endurance Gaiter as they offer extra protection for the sensitive bunion area.
Are the Scoot Boots suitable for 24/7 use?
Yes, Scoot Boots are hoof boots that can stay on the horse 24/7. This is sometimes necessary during the changeover from shoeing to barehoof. Or also during use as a sick shoe. A daily check is of course mandatory. Helpful against chafing can be the Endurance Gaiter be. For 24/7 use, as long as necessary and as short as possible.
Can you jump with Scoot Boots?
Yes, you can. Scoot Boots have excellent shock absorption and a profile that is suitable for jumping. There are professional show jumping riders who use Scoot Boots up to Grand Prix level. However, you should check the FEI rules in your country to make sure that scoot boots are allowed in competition.
I am looking for hoof boots for the open stable, are Scoot Boots suitable?
Yes, Scoot Boots are also suitable for use in open stables due to their good drainage effect. Of course, a daily check is important. See also "24/7 use" or "How long can Scoot Boots stay on the hoof".
Are Scoot Boots suitable for shetland ponies, Noriker horses and ponies?
Yes, there are a total of 27 different sizes, including slim versions for narrow hooves.
For the small sizes (up to 1) and the large sizes (from 8), the size recommendation according to the size chart is not always optimal, here we recommend trying on Fit Kit shells or sending us photos in advance and then we will try to determine the right size for you.
Are Scoot Boots suitable for donkeys?
The normal Scootboot does not, as donkeys usually have a hoof shape similar to a buck hoof. However, the new Scootboot Enduro is very variable and can therefore often also fit donkeys and horses with high heels.
Is there an online consultation for the Scoot Boots?
Yes, you are welcome to email me photos of the hooves or send them via Whats App (+43664 93 04 9000) I will try to make you a suggestion as soon as possible. Please see the page Sizing.
Are Scootboots suitable for driving?
Yes, the Scoot Boots are also suitable for carriage driving. We also use them ourselves for harnessing and are delighted with them. The abrasion is of course higher when driving than when riding, but the grip and cushioning are also great on tarmac.
Are Scoot Boots suitable for Icelanders?
Yes and no. We have many customers who ride Icelandic horses with the Scootboots. However, 70% of them have widened the shoes with a heat gun in the ball area. You can see how this works here in our YouTube video. (Please note: if the shoe has been altered, it cannot be returned)
Alternatively, you can also use the Scoot Boot Enduro utilise.
